Reckitt Benckiser announces new chief financial officer

Reckitt Benckiser has named Liz Doherty as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

The former CFO of Australian company Brambles Industries is due to join Reckitt Benckiser in January 2011 and will take over from Colin Day, the firm's outgoing finance chief.

Having also previously worked in finance roles at Unilever and Tesco, Ms Doherty has held positions in Australia, Spain, The Netherlands and Thailand during her career.

Chief executive of Reckitt Benckiser Bart Brecht said the British executive will be "a great cultural fit" for the global healthcare and consumer goods company.

"She has excellent international, consumer and listed company experience," he added.

Ms Doherty will stand down from her role as a non-executive director of SABMiller before taking up the new position at Reckitt Benckiser.

Last month, Mr Brecht and chairman Adrian Bellamy thanked Mr Day for his contribution to the firm during his ten-year tenure as CFO.
