Reckitt Benckiser to support Every Woman, Every Child initiative
Reckitt Benckiser has announced its official support for the UN-backed Every Woman, Every Child (EWEC) programme.
EWEC was launched by UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon in 2010 to encourage governments, businesses and organisations to play a greater role in improving the health of women and children.
Reckitt Benckiser's submission for its Save a Child a Minute campaign has now been officially accepted by the EWEC initiative, allowing it to contribute to improving women's and children's health worldwide.
The firm committed to raising 23.5 million pounds over four years for a partnership with Save the Children to launch the Save a Child a Minute programme, which aims to help eradicate child deaths from diarrhoea.
Through its work, the company seeks to reduce the prevalence of diarrhoea amongst children under five and the incidence of acute diarrhoea by at least 50 percent, as well as cutting the number of deaths from diarrhoea in clinics among under fives by 80 percent by 2018.
