8th March 2007

Healthcare group Recordati has revealed that its net income for 2006 was euros 74 million (50.36 million pounds).

The Italian company announced that its board has proposed dividends of euros 0.185 per share as a result of last year’s solid performance, which represents an increase of 35 per cent from 2005.

Recordati also confirmed that the first two months’ trading this year have recorded sales of euros 110 million, which is broadly in line with figures posted during the same period in 2006.

The firm states that it has a track record of innovative research programmes in the pharmaceutical sector: “The most recent of which, lercanidipine, a latest generation calcium channel blocker for the treatment of hypertension, is the company’s leading product.”

Latest data shows that the antihypertensive treatment has seen international sales rise by 21.2 per cent over the course of the last trading year.

However, Recordati also announced that revenue generated by product sales in its home country have fallen in recent times by 7.8 per cent as a result of reimbursed goods and the reorganisation of operational procedures.

Last month, the company revealed that it has completed an agreement with global pharmaceutical firm Meda regarding promotion and sales of lercanidipine to the German market.
