ResMed launches world’s first non-contact sleep system
ResMed has announced the launch of the world's first non-contact sleep system, which offers users personalised feedback on how to improve their sleep quality.
The S Plus device uses bio-motion sensors to measure an individual's sleep stages and environment, including breathing patterns and body movements, without the need for uncomfortable wristbands, mattress strips or electrodes.
It also records light, noise and temperature levels and allows consumers to enter data on factors such as caffeine and alcohol intake, as well as exercise, to analyse patterns over time and deliver strategies for improvement.
To be launched initially in the US, the system can also interact with a free app for iOS and Android devices to make it easier to access and analyse the performance data.
Don Darkin, president of ResMed's sleep-disordered breathing business unit, said: "Using our patented SleepSensor technology that connects direct to your smartphone, the S Plus allows for more accurate in-home monitoring, and represents a quantum leap forward in sleep science to achieve better sleep."
The company will be publishing its financial results for the first quarter of the 2015 business year on October 23rd 2014.
