Rob Roberts MP has vocalised about the state of dentistry in Wales

The representative for Delyn, Wales, Rob Roberts MP, has vocalised about the state of dentistry in Wales and has made calls for immediate action. Roberts listed several factors currently affecting access to dentistry in Flint and the nearby areas, including:

Difficult regulatory environments.
Struggle to educate and train a sufficient number of dentists.
Fewer overseas dental professionals.
Patients choose NHS dentistry when they have enough money for private work.

More people in Wales, Scotland and England, are now dissatisfied with the NHS, tallying up to 41%, compared to satisfied. This is the first time this has happened since 2002.

The lowest satisfaction levels stand with dentists at 33% and GPs at 38%.

After requesting a meeting with the local health board, Roberts is raising his concerns with the Health Minister in Wales. Furthermore, Roberts will also meet with the British Dental Association and General Dental Council.

The national director at Healthwatch England, Louise Ansari, stated: “With the NHS facing pressures across the whole system, these findings are not a reflection on how hard the NHS is working.”
