Roche brings together students to discuss ideas

Roche and the Salzburg Festival have invited 100 students from across Europe to attend the second edition of their joint programmes.

Students in science – as well as music and the arts – from over 70 universities in Europe are collaborating in Salzburg to reveal the common ground of creativity between science and the arts.

The Roche Continents project was established last year and hopes to encourage young people to get familiar with the unfamiliar.

As well as listening to music concerts, students will engage in a number of lectures and workshops based around arts and science.

The programme has been created for undergraduate and post-doc students aged 20 to 29 across Europe and is part of the company’s long tradition of supporting cultural projects.

Franz B Humer, chairman of the board of Roche, said: “This joint programme by the Salzburg Festival and Roche unites students from different academic disciplines who come together to discuss new ideas and thoughts.”

He added a climate of creativity, openness and listening to people is the key to success at the company.

Last month, Roche signed an agreement to purchase Arius Research for an all-cash sum of approximately C$191 million (94 million pounds) in order to gain access to a new screening platform for antibody therapeutics.
