Roche cobas 8000 modular series receives CE mark

1st September 2009

Roche has announced that its cobas 8000 modular analyser series has been granted CE mark certification.

This means that it will now be allowed to commercially distribute the relevant products in Europe and other regions that recognise the standard, such as Asia Pacific and Latin America.

The cobas 8000 is the most recent member of the Roche platform family, mixes immunochemistry and clinical chemistry testing and is designed to ensure that high-volume laboratories can deliver cost-effective and timely results.

Jurgen Schwiezer, head of Roche’s diagnostic division, commented: "This newest addition to the cobas family of integrated analysers will allow extremely fast and efficient testing procedures and significantly reduce sample turnaround time."

In other Roche news, the company announced last month that when Avastin (bevacizumab) is administered in conjunction with commonly-used chemotherapies, deterioration of untreated breast cancer is prolonged.
