Roche forms a deal with Boots UK to promote free access to its mySugr diabetes app

8th July 2020

Roche has recently formed a deal with Boots UK in a campaign to promote free access to its mySugr diabetes management app. Due to the coronavirus pandemic straining healthcare resources, Roche released the premium version of its app, mySugr Pro, to all of its users in April. In addition, users can sign up through to the end of September for a free year trial of the app, which usually costs twenty euros and ninety-nine cents.

The new partnership aims to promote the app on the retailers’ social media platforms and website, as well as push broader awareness. Over two million users have registered on the mySugr app, which syncs with Roche Accu-Chek blood sugar meters and can include data from other fitness apps by connecting it through Apple Health.

PhD Medical Affairs Lead at Roche Diabetes Care, Ireland and the UK, Claire Marriott, stated: “With two-hundred new health apps coming to market every day, it can be difficult to assess their quality. Acceptance into the NHS Apps Library means that they have been determined as clinically safe and secure to use, having met standards set by NHS Digital, helping people with diabetes to decide which health and wellbeing apps to use.”
