Royal Canin presents award to deaf/blind woman

Royal Canin has presented an award to a deaf/blind woman from Newbury, in conjunction with the charity group Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The annual Royal Canin Life Changing Partnership of the Year award was given to Helen White, who has suffered from mental health problems and depression for her whole life, but recently formed an inspirational bond with her hearing dog Bruno.

Thanks to the support and friendship of the canine, she has been able to venture outside more often and cope better with her recent lymphoma cancer diagnosis, as well as her husband's case of multiple sclerosis.

Ms White and Bruno attended the annual Hearing Dog Awards at London's Regents University on October 10th 2013, where she received her prize from actor Martin Freeman.

Michele Jennings, chief executive officer of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: "This award demonstrates how much of a difference hearing dogs make on people's lives – they become a constant companion and an important member of the family."

This is one of many charity groups supported by Royal Canin, with others including Cat Chat Cat Rescue, Medical Detection Dogs and the Animal Cancer Trust.
