Royal Canin research ‘sheds light on obesity in cats’

Royal Canin research has shown that devising dietary plans for felines can help pet owners to improve the outcome of weight loss programmes in obese cats.

Conducted at the Royal Canin Research Centre in Aimargues, France, the randomised, single-blinded field trail for weight loss in obese cats showed that between three different foods, there was not a notable difference after 20 weeks, reports allaboutfeed.net.

However, the differences that were noted include a lack of satisfaction, as determined by the pets’ owners, which occurred most when the cats were fed an existing commercial dry high-fibre ration with a measuring cup.

Diets of novel dry high-fibre ration and ready-prepared portions of dry and moist food were found to be more fulfilling to cats’ appetites, relates the website.
