Sanofi and Genzyme to publish new MS drug data

19th October 2011

Sanofi and Genzyme have announced plans to publish clinical data on a number of their multiple sclerosis (MS) treatments at an upcoming industry conference.

The companies will be attending the joint triennial congress of the European and Americas Committees for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis to present more than 20 studies on various therapies.

Among them will be phase III trial results for Lemtrada and Aubagio, the firms' leading investigational candidates for the treatment of relapsing MS, which will be featured in platform and poster presentations.

The drugs have been compared to leading alternatives in order to demonstrate their safety and efficacy, with attention paid to criteria such as cognitive outcomes.

Dr David Meeker, chief operating officer at Genzyme, said: "Genzyme is committed to transforming the landscape of MS treatment through novel research and development aimed at addressing significant unmet needs for patients with MS."

This comes after Sanofi and Genzyme published new Aubagio trial data earlier this month, showing its efficacy in reducing annual relapse rate and disability progression.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800762966-ADNFCR
