Sanofi announces diabetes collaboration with Google Life Sciences

2nd September 2015

Sanofi has announced a new partnership with Google aimed at improving care and outcomes for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Working with Google Life Sciences, the pharmaceutical company will be exploring the creation of new tools that bring together previously siloed pieces of diabetes management and enable new kinds of interventions.

Key objectives include the use of data and miniaturised technology to provide patients with tools to self-manage their disease, while shifting the focus from episodic and event-driven diabetes care to continuous, value-based care.

The collaboration will also evaluate better ways to collect, analyse and understand multiple sources of information impacting diabetes.

Dr Olivier Brandicourt, chief executive officer of Sanofi, said: "This initiative combines Sanofi's strength and knowledge in diabetes with Google's leadership in technology and analytics to create a first-of-its-kind initiative with the potential to transform diabetes care."

This comes after the firm announced a collaboration with Evotec last month that will focus on the development of beta cell-modulating treatments for diabetes.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801799343-ADNFCR
