Sanofi announces new Executive Committee member
Dr Ameet Nathwani has been named as a new member of the Executive Committee at Sanofi in the capacity of group chief medical officer..
He will be in charge of enterprise-wide medical, patient safety and medical quality assurance, while his responsibilities also include insuring the highest transparency and compliancy standards in Sanofi's interactions with healthcare providers, patients and medical organisations.
Dr Nathwani will take over from Dr Paul Chew, who is retiring later this year and joins Sanofi after a stint at Novartis.
Olivier Brandicourt, chief executive officer at Sanofi, commented: "Our industry is experiencing increased pressure to support reimbursement with customised data from real-world evidence, demonstrate ongoing benefit-risk of registered products through continuous scientific data generation, and ensure that data are effectively and transparently communicated."
He stated that the role of chief medical officer has been elevated to the Executive Committee in order to shape the company's strategy and enhance its "world-class" medical capabilities to address these challenges.
