Sanofi-aventis to launch blood glucose monitoring devices

21st September 2010

Sanofi-aventis is to launch two new blood glucose monitoring devices which are designed to make it easier for diabetes sufferers to self-manage their conditions.

The new BGStar and iBGStar units have been developed in association with AgaMatrix and utilise Dynamic Electrochemistry technology to provide reliable readings, as well as a clear display and numerous feedback features.

In addition, patients can connect the iBGStar to their iPhone or iPod touch units, where they can perform testing and share data with their doctors using the iBGStar Diabetes Manager App.

According to Pierre Chancel, senior vice-president of the global diabetes division of Sanofi-aventis, this will allow users to fit their diabetes care into their daily routines more easily.

"It is an important step toward our goal of delivering seamless connectivity between diagnostics, treatment and monitoring," he added.

The company's diabetes offering also includes the SoloSTAR and reusable ClikSTAR pen-based drug administration devices, as well as treatments such as Lantus and Apidra.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800074577-ADNFCR
