Sanofi Pasteur wins award for dengue fever awareness campaign

1st April 2015

Sanofi Pasteur has won a prize at the eyeforpharma Barcelona Awards for its global dengue fever awareness programme Break Dengue.

The campaign was named most impactful emerging or global initiative following a unanimous vote by a panel of international industry experts and patient advocates, with the result announced at an event in Barcelona on March 24th.

Break Dengue is a non-profit, open platform aimed at connecting anti-dengue initiatives via a centralised hub. Seven supporting partners from both the private and public sectors came together to launch the project.

In its first week alone, Break Dengue had more than 10,000 Facebook followers, rising to over 250,000 after a year. The use of social media has played a huge role in amplifying the impact of the campaign.

Paul Simms, chairman of eyeforpharma, said: "Break Dengue is the perfect example of identifying a need for something bigger in the fight for disease awareness and demonstrates an ideal model which could be replicated for so many other diseases across the globe."

Sanofi Pasteur is currently working on a groundbreaking dengue vaccine candidate that is the first product of its kind to prove its efficacy in a phase III trial.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801782191-ADNFCR
