Sanofi reports strong financial results for second quarter of 2015
Sanofi has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2015, during which it delivered a 4.9 percent year-on-year sales improvement.
The company's sales total for the quarter was 9.38 billion euros (6.61 billion pounds), which was up by 16.1 percent on Q2 2014 on a reported basis, while net income and earnings per share also grew substantially.
Slightly lower sales from its diabetes business were more than offset by the strong performance of its vaccines, animal health and Genzyme units, as well as the positive momentum seen in emerging markets.
The performance of the second quarter was in line with the company's full-year guidance, with these targets still expected to be met.
Olivier Brandicourt, Sanofi's chief executive officer, said: "In the second quarter, Sanofi delivered solid growth on both the top and bottom lines that was consistent with our expectations."
The recent announcement that Sanofi will soon adopt a new corporate structure – with its operations to be divided into five new global business units – will also help to drive growth in the medium-term future.
