Sanofi sees further growth in first quarter of 2014

1st May 2014

Sanofi has maintained the growth trajectory seen during the last months of 2013 into the first quarter of this year.

Data from the company's financial report for Q1 2014 showed a group sales total of 7.84 billion euros (6.44 billion pounds), up by 3.5 percent year on year, while its growth platform sales rose by 7.9 percent, accounting for 73.7 percent of total sales.

Positive data on a number of developmental therapies and compounds were reported during the quarter, while new products were launched by its Chattem and Merial divisions.

The performance of the first quarter was in line with the company's full-year guidance. Its 2014 business earnings growth is expected to be in the range of four to seven percent.

Sanofi's chief executive officer Christopher Viehbacher said: "During the next three quarters of 2014, we expect important development milestones for multiple high-potential pipeline projects including Toujeo, the Dengue vaccine, alirocumab, Cerdelga and dupilumab."

The firm achieved a revenue total of 32.95 billion euros during 2013, which was roughly in line with its 2012 performance.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801717121-ADNFCR
