Sanyo rolls-out CFC-free cryogenic freezer
Sanyo E&E Europe BV has announced the launch of the "most modern" cryogenic-class freezer for the safe storage of biological samples.
The MDF-C2156VAN, which has a temperature range of -125C to -150C and a capacity of 231L, offers reliable and stable storage of samples over long periods, according to the manufacturer.
New vacuum insulation panel technology allows the storage of up to 14,000 tubes (2ml) and provides 25 per cent more storage capacity than a conventionally-insulated freezer.
And because it is CFC-free and conforms to European Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives, it is not detrimental to the environment, according to Sanyo.
In fact, at the end of last year, Sanyo announced that all its products were RoHS-complaint, meaning that all its electrical equipment is free of toxic substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium 6+.
A status alert function on the freezer constantly monitors ambient conditions and notifies researcher if there are any abnormalities.
Furthermore, an LCD control panel features pop-up menus and displays recent operating information, while the history of lid openings can also be accessed.
