Sartorius hails dynamic growth in 2011

Sartorius has hailed its success in the 2011 business year after achieving a double-digit improvement in annual performance.

The company's sales revenue rose to 733.1 million euros (610.55 million pounds), up by 11.2 percent compared to 2010, while its operating earnings and profit margin figures rose by 31.2 percent and 15.3 percent respectively.

Both the biotechnology and mechatronics divisions saw encouraging growth, while the sharpest rates of improvement were noted in the Asia-Pacific and European regions.

The company now expects to see further sales and earnings increases of around ten percent over the coming 12 months.

Dr Joachim Kreuzburg, chief executive officer of Sartorius, added: "In order to propel our business forward in an even more focused and flexible way, we have put a new division structure in place at the outset of 2012."

This comes after the firm completed its acquisition of the liquid handling business of Biohit in December 2011, a move that will greatly expand its product offering for laboratory applications.
