Sartorius reports earnings increase in 2010

11th March 2010

Sartorius has published its financial results for 2009, during which it was able to increase its earnings despite a difficult economic climate.

The science company’s operating earnings total for the year came to 60.9 million euros (55.3 million pounds), an increase compared to the 56.8 million figure recorded in 2008.

It attributed this result primarily to the “dynamic growth” experienced by its biotechnology division, which saw a profit increase that helped to compensate for the relatively depressed performance of other business units.

Dr Joachim Kreuzburg, chief executive officer of Sartorius, said this growth was driven by the fact the company offers the “widest and best-integrated portfolio in the industry for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals using single-use systems”.

He added that he expects further increases in revenue and profit across the company in the coming year.

Earlier this year, the company entered into collaboration with Corning Incorporated to market a new portfolio of cell culture products for the pharmaceuticals and biotech sectors.
