SCA donates computers to Rwandan schools
SCA has made a donation of 50 computers and other technical equipment for use at two schools for orphaned children in Rwanda.
According to the hygiene products firm, the computers were sent to the African country following an appeal from Jean-Paul Resimont, the former managing director of SCA Containerboard.
He explained that the obstacles to education facing many youngsters in Rwanda became clear to him during a recent visit to the nation.
As education is not funded by the Rwandan government after primary school level, many families struggle to ensure their children continue to learn, Mr Resimont said.
“Through discussions with local contact persons in Rwanda we were able to set up a collaboration with SCA,” he added.
The computer equipment will be used at the country’s oldest secondary school in Butare, as well as another institutions located in Kigali, the capital city.
Earlier this week, SCA revealed details of its attempts to help reforest an area of the Amazon basin in Brazil.
