Schering-Plough enlists actress to advise on allergy drug drowsiness
Spin City and Grand Theft Auto IV actress Lori Loughlin is helping to promote a campaign to highlight the dangers of driving while taking allergy medication.
Ms Loughlin will be promoting the use of non-drowsy seasonal allergy medication Claritin for people who do a lot of driving.
Schering-Plough manufactures several Claritin products aimed at alleviating hay fever symptoms in seasonal sufferers, among them Ms Loughlin.
These include once-a-day tablets, 12-hour extended release tablets and children’s chewable varieties.
The campaign aims to get people to check their medication labels as a safety precaution before getting behind the wheel of their vehicle.
Ms Loughlin, who is also well known for her role in the television sitcom Full House, said: “As an allergy sufferer, I was surprised to learn that some over-the-counter medicines may cause drowsiness.
“I thought there was something wrong with me because I was so sleepy, which was pretty dangerous considering all the driving I do with my kids.”
