Schering Plough promotes Russo

Schering-Plough has announced the promotion of an internal candidate to the role of vice president of Global Cholesterol Marketing.

The company has announced that Raymond Russo, vice president of US Cholesterol Marketing, will now report to Sean McNicholas, senior vice president of Strategic Partnerships and US Managed Markets following his promotion.

Mr Russo’s new role will see his responsibilities take on a worldwide remit rather than just being constrained to the United States. The Global Cholesterol Marketing vice presidency does not, however, include Japan.

Schering-Plough has also said that Mr Russo will be responsible for in-licensed cardiovascular products, new developments from the company’s research institute and Schering-Plough branded drugs such as Vytorin and Zetia.

Mr Russo has been involved with these two drugs in his previous role in the US, where he was “instrumental in driving higher sales and market share of the franchise”, according to Schering-Plough.
