Schering-Plough sells animal health products to Pfizer

Schering-Plough has announced the successful sale of a number of its animal health products to Pfizer.

It noted these divestments were requested by the European Commission following the company’s acquisition of Organon BioSciences.

Pfizer has purchased these products for a total sum of 116 million euros (92 million pounds).

Ruurd Stolp, president of Intervet and Schering-Plough Animal Health, said: “We are making good progress both globally and at the country level on our integration, and the closing of the transaction with Pfizer is another very important step in both that process.”

He added that the company offers consumers a wide-ranging product portfolio together with a number of services which build a robust platform for growth in the future.

Pfizer noted the products acquired include the Gletvax range of swine E.coli vaccines, the Equip range of influenza and tetanus vaccines for horses, the Covexin range of ruminant Clostridial vaccines and others.
