Schwarz Pharma publishes full-year report

26th February 2007

Schwarz Pharma has announced its financial results for the 2006 fiscal year. The company generated sales of one billion euros (0.67 billion pounds), an increase of one per cent on the previous year.

Operating profit was 59.5 million euros, compared to a loss of 17 million euros in 2005, resulting in a net profit of 12.4 million euros, compared to a net loss of 54.1 million the previous year.

Detlef Thielgen, chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Schwarz Pharma, said: “The year 2006 was very eventful for us.

“We have successfully launched within Europe Neipro, the Parkinson’s patch, and saw significant progress in our development pipeline.”

He added that the company saw a positive net financial result in the year, despite increased marketing and research and development costs. The company announced that it would be proposing a dividend of 0.2 euros per share.

Schwarz Pharma predicts sales of 800-850 million euros during 2007, while it also plans to submit application documents for three indications during the year.

Last month, Schwarz Pharma announced the approval of Neupro for the treatment of advanced-stage Parkinson’s disease in all stages in combination with levodopa. The patch is currently also indicated as a monotherapy for early-stage idiopathic Parkinson’s disease.
