Schwarz Pharma reports nine-month financials

30th October 2007

Schwarz Pharma has published its financial results for the first nine months of 2007, with the company reporting a 6.8 per cent decrease in net sales to 671.2 million euros (469.4 million pounds).

The company’s operating result increased by 27 per cent on last year’s figure to 72.4 million euros, with the net result for the period rising from 14 million euros in 2006 to 25 million euros this year.

Sales in the UK, Ireland and Spain were boosted by the launch of Parkinson’s disease treatment Neupro (rotigotine transdermal patch), which saw sales of 32.1 million euros during the period, up from 5.1 million euros last year.

Detlef Thielge, chairman of the executive board of the company, said: “The business trend has remained on track in the first nine months of the year.”

He added that the company’s integration with UCB is progressing well.

Following the publication of these results, Schwarz Pharma notes that its financial outlook for the full year has not changed.

The firm forecasts sales for fiscal 2007 to be in the region of 800-850 million euros.

In August 2007, Schwarz Pharma reported a 5.7 per cent drop in revenue for the first six months of the year when compared to the same period last year.
