Shire CFO ‘to bring experience of consumer-driven industries’
Shire has announced the appointment of a new executive board director and chief financial officer (CFO) who has pledged to bring his experience of consumer-driven industries to the company.
Prior to his appointment at the company, Graham Hetherington worked in senior financial roles at a number of companies, including as the CFO of Bacardi last year and at Allied Domecq from 1999 to 2005.
Mr Hetherington is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has led finance functions for consumer brand-driven groups in the food and drinks sector.
Matthew Emmens, chief executive officer at Shire, said: “We welcome Graham to the Shire board.
“In addition to his contributions as the company’s CFO, he brings a wealth of financial experience as well as a new perspective from another highly competitive industry.”
Mr Hetherington said that he is pleased to be joining a company with a track record of innovation that has a differentiated model, clear strategy and history of taking calculated risks to deliver consistent growth and shareholder value.
In February 2008, senior vice-president of leadership development at Shire Pharmaceuticals Charlotte Sibley was named woman of the year by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.
