Shire named among most reputable US companies

Shire has been acknowledged as the most reputable US-based healthcare company in a report compiled by the Reputation Institute and published in Forbes magazine.

The 2015 US RepTrak 100 list ranked Shire at the very top of its industry sector and also placed it at 31st in its analysis of the most reputable companies overall. This was based on a review of its innovation, leadership, governance, citizenship, workplace, financial performance and products/services.

RepTrak's database examines 15 stakeholder groups in more than 25 industries across in excess of 50 countries for over 7,000 companies. The 2015 US RepTrak 100 looked at public perceptions of companies based on more than 70,000 interviews.

This marks the first time Shire has been included in this list. According to the Reputation Institute, companies with strong reputations are 15 times more likely to attract better talent and also reap significant financial benefits.

Shire chief executive officer Flemming Ornskov said: "While we will never be complacent, it is reassuring to see that we are making progress through our focus on leadership, responsibility and innovation."

The firm is currently embarking on a new phase of strategic growth following the recent completion of its acquisition of NPS Pharma.
