Shire names new general counsel and comms head

Shire has announced the addition of two new members to its leadership team, to be based at its headquarters in Massachusetts.

Bill Mordan will join the company as its new general counsel and corporate secretary, as well as serving as a member of the Shire executive committee. He will join from Reckitt Benckiser, where he served in the same role, after his notice period ends.

He has been with Reckitt Benckiser since 2003, while prior to this he worked for Procter and Gamble for six years.

Shire’s chief executive officer Flemming Ornskov said: “With his proven legal abilities, in-depth knowledge of the UK market, and experience advising management and the board, Bill brings a unique combination of technical and leadership skills that will help propel Shire to the next level.”

Meanwhile, Michele Galen has been hired as the company’s head of corporate communications and public affairs, a role that will also see her become an extended member of the executive committee.

She most recently served as a managing Director for MPM Capital and as a corporate advisor, while her past employers include the pharmaceutical company Novartis.
