Siemens Healthcare’s Symbia T system wins praise from Blackburn hospital

14th October 2014

Siemens Healthcare has announced that its Symbia T Series SPECT-CT solution has delivered benefits for a hospital in East Lancashire.

The Royal Blackburn Hospital has been able to expand its nuclear medicine offering to include bone scan imaging by investing in the device, which is being utilised by the hospital for all routine nuclear medicine procedures, as well as myocardial perfusion and parathyroid imaging.

Its ease of use benefits and affordable costs were cited as key reasons for the hospital's decision to invest in the system. Its intended future applications include oncology scans such as bone scan imaging, lung scans, MIBG and octreoscans.

Users have praised Symbia T for its improved image quality and higher specificity of results, facilitating improved characterisation of indeterminate lesions and differentiation between benign and malignant lesions.

Philip Tesh, regional sales manager at Siemens Healthcare, said: "The system's automation enables imaging speeds to be achieved that would have previously been unattainable, leading to faster patient diagnosis and treatment plus the ability to support increased patient volumes."

This comes after Castle Hill Hospital recently became the first facility in the UK to implement Biograph mCT Flow Edge, the latest PET-CT technology from Siemens.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801754324-ADNFCR
