Siemens introduces new smart hearing aids
Siemens has introduced new smart hearing aid technology at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show.
The new devices offer a number of benefits over traditional hearing aids due to the fact they can be discreetly paired with iOS and Android devices and controlled remotely, as well as due to their intelligent adaptive capabilities.
Clinically proven to outperform normal hearing in background noise, the hearing aids – when worn as a pair – can utilise two-way wireless communication to zero in on desired speech with great accuracy, thus helping to remove background chatter.
When paired with Siemens easyTek app, a wearer can control the direction of the hearing aids' microphones or adjust the span of their focus, making it even easier for users to tailor their performance to the situation.
Scott Davis, chief executive officer at Siemens Hearing Instruments, said: "With these hearing aids, you can turn your iPhone or Android device into a hearing aid control center. We call it on-demand hearing."
The company had a strong year in terms of innovation in 2014, filing a total of 4,300 patent applications during the fiscal year – up by nine percent on 2013.
