Siemens launches Innovance Free PS Ag assay
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has announced the launch of the Innovance Free PS Ag assay, a new means of facilitating free protein S antigen testing.
The novel device provides an easy and stable testing mechanism that employs polystyrene particles coated with monoclonal antibodies for highly specific determination of free protein S.
It works in conjunction with other Siemens thrombophilia assays, all of which are optimised for use with the Siemens BCS and Sysmex analysers, to provide consistent, comparable performance across coagulation systems.
Tests carried out using the new assay show that it is able to demonstrate high linearity and excellent precision over the entire calibrated measuring range.
Michael Noeh, vice-president for global marketing at Siemens' haematology, haemostasis and specialty business unit, said: "Specificity, stability and ease of use are key drivers behind a laboratory's confidence in an assay, as these factors directly contribute to results accuracy and decreased error potential."
Last month, the company also announced that it has agreed a deal to acquire Penrith Corporation, a manufacturer of integrated ultrasound imaging systems.
