Siemens launches mobile digital mammography system
Siemens Medical Solutions has announced the launch of its Mammomat Novation DR full-field digital mammography system with the first installation of the product in the US.
The system has been included in the Hope Coach – a mobile digital mammography van launched at the start of October by the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month and serve the Las Vegas area.
With flat-panel detector built on amorphous Selenium technology, the Mammomat Novation DR system facilitates the direct conversion to digital information of X-ray information and provision of superior clinical detail and high spatial resolution.
Tracie Stuckey-Arana, breast imaging supervisory at the NVCI, said: “I love that it’s so fast and that I can see the images quickly.
“It also helps that we already have the Siemens reading station at the main office, so configuring the Hope Coach to work with it was easy.”
The Mammomat Novation DR System was approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration in April 2006, with the product designed to work in conjunction with the MammoReport Plus workstation system.
Physicians are able to use this workstation with third-party CAD markers and switch between eight-view mammogram charts.
