Siemens launches new sirolimus assay
Siemens has launched a new sirolimus assay product designed to make its easier for healthcare professionals to conduct immunosuppressive drug (ISD) monitoring tests.
The new Emit 2000 assay functions with the company’s own Viva-E and V-Twin drug testing systems and can be used to manage sirolimus therapy among transplant patients.
This is a crucial process in the transplant process, as it allows the correct balance to be maintained between providing appropriate levels of immunosuppression and ensuring that organs are not rejected.
Siemens states that the launch of the product also means that a full range of immunosuppressants can now be measured on a single platform, which can streamline the ISD monitoring process.
David Hickey, executive vice-president of central laboratory and global research and development at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, said: “We will continue working to enhance operational efficiency for clinical laboratories while providing highly sensitive, reliable immunosuppressive drug tests that help ensure quality care for transplant patients.”
Last month Siemens attended the American Association for Clinical Chemistry’s 2010 Clinical Lab Expo, showcasing new laboratory products such as the Clintek Status Connect System and Versant kPCR Sample Prep.
