Siemens launches upgraded CentraLink Data Management System

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has introduced a new and improved version of its lab process management solution, the CentraLink Data Management System.

Version 14 of the suite delivers expanded connectivity to multiple lab information systems, while it can also detect automatically if an instrument connected to an automation track is offline, allowing it to automatically re-route samples to another available device.

A new automated sample status feature that tracks arriving samples in real time offers workflow enhancement benefits, while proactive quality control alerts facilitate process management.

CentraLink v14 also incorporates various customisation tools, allowing it to be tailored to the needs of staff.

Marilyn Leonard, laboratory manager at the White Plains Hospital in New York, said: "The new version is overall more efficient and we've been able to improve turnaround time, which the clinicians, especially those in the emergency department, really appreciate."

Earlier this month, the company was granted CE Mark approval to offer pleural fluid pH testing on its RAPIDPoint 500 Blood Gas System for the first time.
