Sigma-Aldrich launches Your Favourite Gene portal

Sigma-Aldrich has announced the launch of a website which allows access to gene-based information.

Your Favourite Gene, powered by Ingenuity, is a search portal containing chemical and biological content which can allow researchers to model and assess potential experiments using previously published material.

Users can find information based on disease, function, protein, gene, species, pathway or tissue on the site, which is based on Sigma-Aldrich’s search engine of the same name.

Dr David Smoller, president of Sigma-Aldrich’s Research Biotech business unit, commented: "We intend Your Favourite Gene powered by Ingenuity to serve as an information hub for researchers and students exploring diseases, functions and gene pathways."

He added the company plans for the service to coordinate biological data with its "comprehensive collection" of kits, products and reagents.

Students and researchers – which may include people in science sales jobs – can access the web portal for free.

On February 11th, Sigma-Aldrich will be webcasting its conference call on its fourth quarter results.
