Sirona agrees material partnership for Shofu CAD/CAM blocks

Sirona has announced a new materials partnership with Shofu, the Japanese manufacturer of a range of hybrid-ceramic materials.

With immediate effect, the Shofu Block HC will be produced and marketed for Sirona milling machines, expanding the range of high-quality CAD/CAM blocks available to CEREC and inLab users.

The Shofu Block HC features natural translucency, as well as durability, bending strength and polishability. Expert analysis has hailed the material as highly resistant to discolouration, with excellent surface properties.

Sirona's existing material partners include leading suppliers such as Ivoclar Vivadent, VITA Zahnfabrik, Dentsply, 3M ESPE, GC and Merz Dental.

Dr Joachim Pfeiffer, corporate vice-president of CAD/CAM systems at Sirona, said: "Shofu produces innovative products of proven quality and we are pleased to have found a new material partner that shares our vision of high-quality dentistry."

The company recently entered into a merger agreement with Dentsply, with the combination to create the world's leading manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies.
