Smith and Nephew names new non-executive director
Smith and Nephew has announced the appointment of Marc Owen as a new non-executive director, effective as of October 1st 2017.
Mr Owen will join the company's board and will also take up a role on the Smith and Nephew audit committee. He is an experienced businessman who retired from the Fortune 500 healthcare business McKesson in March 2017.
At McKesson, he served on the executive committee since 2001, while he has also held a number of senior roles including chairman of the management board of the integrated pharmaceuticals services provider Celesio and president of the McKesson speciality health business.
Additionally, he worked for McKinsey for 12 years, specialising in healthcare and technology, having begun his career as a barrister in London.
Roberto Quarta, chairman of Smith and Nephew, said: "Attracting such a strong candidate reflects well on the prospects for Smith and Nephew and ensures the board maintains our deep commercial healthcare expertise."
