Smith and Nephew unveils new foam dressing kit

18th December 2008

Smith & Nephew (S&N) has unveiled a new product in the form of a foam dressing kit used for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy.

The company said the new addition to its range would be made available from the first quarter of next year and will give professionals the choice of using foam or gauze interfaces from the same manufacturer.

Each of the kits will be made available in four sizes and supplied sterile, S&N added.

“We recognise that wound care should be in the hands of the clinicians and we want to supply them with the best options to select the right dressing for each patient,” explained S&N’s president of advanced wound management division Joe Woody.

Other recent developments at the company include the launch of the Crosstrac Hip Guide System by the endoscopy department.

S&N announced the product at the Arthroscopy Association of North America Fall Course in Arizona, US.

It is aimed at providing clinicians with a more reliable and predictable portal placement when they first attempt the procedure, which the manufacturer said can “be a challenge even for surgeons who have performed many”.
