Smith and Nephew’s Leaf system shows wound management benefits

Smith and Nephew has announced the findings of a new study showing the benefits of its Leaf patient monitoring system.

Researchers at Stanford Health Care have carried out an investigator-initiated trial involving more than 1,200 patients and over 100,000 hours of data, revealing that patients treated with Leaf are 73 percent less likely to develop a pressure injury.

Leaf is a wireless device that attaches to a patient's chest to monitor the patient's position, orientation, movement and activity, and can be used to ensure patients are repositioned with sufficient frequency and quality.

The device was created by Leaf Healthcare, a leading developer of wireless patient monitoring solutions, and is exclusively distributed by Smith and Nephew, which is also an investor in the company.
