Smiths ‘expects to announce strong results for the year’

11th August 2006

Smiths has revealed it expects to announce strong results for the financial year when it publishes its preliminary results for the 2006 financial year in September.

The UK-based company has said it predicts sales to be 17 per cent higher than in 2005, with half resulting from underlying growth. Strong cash-flow and fast improvements in Smiths’ operating margins are also expected to feature strongly.

A statement from the company read: “As forecast at the interim stage, the company has sustained its pace of growth through the second half of the year, benefiting from a good operating performance across its activities and a background of generally favourable market conditions.”

In 2007, Smiths said that sales growth should continue, making further progress overall.

Earlier this week, Tri-anim Health Services named Smiths Medical as manufacturer of the year, based on profit growth, sales and quality of service.

Smiths Medical operates a number of brands, including Portex, Deltec, Level 1 and Medex. It employs 7,500 people and operates manufacturing facilities in the UK, US and Mexico.
