Source BioScience establishes Dublin DNA sequencing site

24th February 2010

Source BioScience has opened a new DNA sequencing services laboratory in Dublin as it looks to expand its network of facilities around the British Isles.

The healthcare-focused science firm’s new site is located within Trinity College Dublin’s facilities and will be used to provide next-generation DNA sequencing and genotyping services, including access to its Nottingham facility.

It becomes the first commercial services provider to establish a laboratory in the area, with the firm stating its intention to extend its corporate reach and expertise in this field of research.

Dr Nick Ash, managing director of Source BioScience, stated that the firm will now be committed to providing high-quality data to its new clients in the region.

He added: “Irish laboratories have an outstanding reputation in life science research and there was a significant opportunity to satisfy the unmet market need for a high quality local service provider.”

Last week, the company launched the Gastric HER2 test, a new testing system for gastric cancer, after receiving approval from the European Medicines Agency.
