Source BioScience helps avoid flood damage to pharma products

16th January 2014

Source BioScience has highlighted the success of its Sentinel disaster recovery plan in helping a UK pharmaceutical company to avoid its stock being damaged by the recent floods.

One of the UK's major pharmaceutical manufacturers utilised the Sentinel plan to safeguard thousands of products in its in-house stability storage suite, which came under threat from water damage due to the high tides seen on the east coast of England.

Source BioScience was able to prime its controlled environment storage facility in Rochdale within minutes of receiving the call, allocating space in the suite at the appropriate temperature and humidity. This enabled stability trials to continue, while vehicles were made available to collect the hundreds of containers of product.

The Rochdale storage facility has more than two million cubic litres of environmentally controlled storage space available, helping to avert potential critical loss and disruption of the stability storage operation.

A statement from Source BioScience said: "The Source BioScience Sentinel disaster recovery plan is designed to protect clients from significant financial losses as well as time consuming delays in bringing products to market."

During the first nine months of 2013, the firm saw strong year-on-year growth. It expects to continue the momentum this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801683140-ADNFCR
