SPCA senior vet to run seven marathons equivalent

12th February 2020

In aid to mark the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (SPCA) special anniversary, a senior vet from the charity is endeavouring to run an equivalent of seven marathons from the beginning of February through to the end of March. The senior vet has already fulfilled her target of one-hundred and eighty pounds and is still collecting more.

Jo Neilson, the determined runner, stated: “The Scottish SPCA recently celebrated its one-hundred and eightieth birthday and as part of the birthday celebrations, challenged animal lovers across Scotland to find ways to raise one-hundred and eighty pounds each to help Scotland’s animals in need. In a fit of insanity, I decided I could do my bit for the truly fantastic charity I work for by challenging myself to run one-hundred and eighty miles in just 60 days. That’s almost 7 full marathons in just 2 months. It’s a huge challenge for me and is going to mean a lot of five am alarm calls and late-night gym sessions, but I honestly believe this incredible cause is worth it.”
