Sphere Medical adds new connectivity features to Proxima blood gas analyser

13th May 2015

Sphere Medical has announced the addition of new connectivity features to its Proxima patient-dedicated arterial blood gas analyser.

The new feature allows direct connectivity to hospital information systems via an Ethernet connection, allowing all patient test data for blood gas and electrolyte measurements – as well as system quality control data – to be transferred effortlessly.

This direct data transfer uses the standard HL7 communication protocol format that is easily integrated into information management systems, such as the Laboratory Information System and electronic Patient Data Management Systems.

With this new functionality, the efficient management of patient data generated by the Proxima system will be made easier, allowing staff to remotely monitor the use and performance of the system with greater ease.

Attendees of the recent Society for Computing in Anaesthesia annual scientific meeting in Birmingham got the chance to see the new connectivity-enhanced Proxima system in action.

The analyser has been proven in clinical studies to offer performance and results comparable to those offered by benchtop analysers.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801787308-ADNFCR
