St Jude Medical announces new connectivity options for Merlin.net

St Jude Medical has expanded the functionality of its Merlin.net patient care network (PCN) with new connectivity options.

The web-based patient and implantable device data repository now offers integration options with the Centricity electronic medical record system from GE Healthcare and the Scottcare OneView cardiac rhythm management system.

It means that users of these two offerings will be able to share information with the Merlin.net PCN, allowing them to remotely access data, send customised alerts and ensure that care quality is upheld.

According to St Jude Medical, this new functionality is already delivering benefits to those using it.

Dr Dan Goldman of The Cardiology Center in Florida said: "We are now able to achieve greater efficiency through simplified clinic workflows and by having complete patient information in one electronic record."

According to the company's newest financial report, St Jude Medical experienced a nine percent year-on-year growth in revenue in the first quarter of 2011.
