St Jude Medical hails good performance in second quarter of 2015
St Jude Medical has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2015, during which it reported a net sales total of $1.41 billion (904.86 million pounds).
This represented a three percent decrease compared to the second quarter of last year, but an increase of six percent on a constant currency basis. This performance was strong enough to prompt the firm to raise its sales guidance for the rest of 2015.
Its atrial fibrillation product revenue increased by around 18 percent on a constant currency basis, with global market share gains driven by the FlexAbility and TactiCath Quartz Contact Force ablation catheters. Its CardioMEMS HF System sales came to around $20 million.
Meanwhile, its worldwide neuromodulation revenue increased by approximately 17 percent in constant currency terms, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of sales acceleration on a year-over-year basis.
For the full year 2015, St Jude Medical now expects total revenue to grow in the range of four to six percent on a constant currency basis, with currency negatively impacting the overall revenue total by approximately $385 million to $410 million.
Daniel Starks, president and chief executive officer of St Jude Medical, said: "We remain confident in our key programmes that accelerated sales growth in the first half of 2015 and are raising our sales guidance in order to demonstrate our strong outlook for the remainder of the year."
