St Jude Medical receives CE Mark for SyncAV CRT software
St Jude Medical has announced that its new SyncAV CRT software is launching in Europe after receiving CE Mark approval.
The technology is the latest addition to the company's range of heart failure offerings, working in conjunction with its first-to-market MultiPoint Pacing technology to enhance its cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) performance.
By using MultiPoint Pacing technology with the SyncAV CRT software algorithm, pacing can be automatically adjusted based on real-time changes in a patient's cardiac condition, giving physicians the opportunity to further improve treatment of patients who have responded positively to traditional CRT.
This makes it possible to address and effectively treat heart failure patients who are not responsive to other pacing options.
Dr Timothy Betts, consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Oxford Heart Centre in the John Radcliffe Hospital, said: "The SyncAV CRT algorithm dynamically individualises programming to work towards providing patients with the right settings at the right time helping offer the best possible outcome for even our most complex patients."
The company has also received CE Mark approval for the Quadra Assura MP CRT-Defibrillator with full-body magnetic resonance labelling, giving patients unrestricted access to MRI diagnostic testing for the first time.
