St Jude Medical reports year-on-year constant currency growth in 2015
St Jude Medical has announced its financial results for 2015, during which it delivered a net sales total of $5.54 billion (3.86 billion pounds).
On a constant currency basis, this represented a year-on-year increase of six percent, with strong momentum observed for the company's atrial fibrillation, heart failure and neuromodulation businesses.
The firm also made progress with the integration of the recently-acquired Thoratec business, which had a strong fourth quarter thanks to continued success in the US and the launch of Heartmate 3 Left Ventricular Assist System in Europe.
For the fourth quarter, the firm delivered sales of $1.45 billion a one percent year-on-year increase in nominal terms, or a seven percent improvement on a constant currency basis.
Michael Rousseau, St Jude Medical's president and chief executive officer, said: "In 2016, we expect to continue our focus on these key areas, which will drive our growth and allow us to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of innovative technologies to patients around the world."
For the 2016 full-year period, the company expects total sales to grow in the range of two to four percent on a comparable constant currency basis.
