St Jude Medical to set up new Cyber Security Medical Advisory Board
St Jude Medical has announced the launch of a new Cyber Security Medical Advisory Board in order to help create a safer medical device ecosystem.
The company will work with experts and government agencies to identify ways of addressing cyber security risks and balancing them with the provision of best care for patients using medical devices.
Through the new medical advisory board, the company will be able to receive direct feedback from leading physicians on patient management considerations, helping it to ensure its cyber security protections remain cutting-edge.
Dr Mark Carlson, chief medical officer at St Jude Medical, said: "Creating the Cyber Security Medical Advisory Board is one more demonstration of our ongoing commitment to advancing standards of patient care around the world without comprising safety and security.”
The firm has spent the last few years working with third-party experts, researchers and government agencies to assess potential vulnerabilities in their devices, examining real-world threat levels before developing appropriate safeguards. The new advisory board will facilitate this ongoing process.
